Youth Dance Workshop


  • A workshop where kids learn the basics of partner dancing, including several styles from Waltz to Swing. Kids will also learn proper ballroom etiquette (treating partners with respect, how to ask for a dance, and more) in one fun afternoon!

    • Includes: Snacks, drinks, and copy of final video showing off what kids learned

    • Need to Bring: Closed toed shoes, clothes to move in, and a great attitude for learning!

  • What if my child hasn't quite turned 7 years old yet?

    • ​If the child is mature enough to be respectful and listen to our instructors, they are welcome to attend.

  • What if my child needs to leave early?

    • ​We get that! But please understand that no part of the $50 workshop fee is refundable in this situation.

  • Do parents have to stay the whole time?

    • ​Parents are welcome to stay but are free to drop their kids off and come back at the end of the workshop.

  • Can my child match themselves with a partner?

    • ​We will make sure to match kids with partners and be switching partners throughout the workshop, barring COVID restrictions.

  • Is this workshop coed?

    • ​Yes! We welcome everyone.

  • What styles will be taught?

    • ​We will be teaching the basics of several dance styles, including Foxtrot, Waltz, Tango, Cha Cha and possibly Swing or Hustle. We might even throw in some line dancing, just for fun!

  • Who are the instructors?

    • ​One Step at a Time's instructors are Jeri Mickle and Amanda Abbott. Jeri has been teaching and performing professionally for over 30 years in all styles of partner dancing, with training under Arthur Murray studios. Amanda has learned dancing under Jeri's instruction for 7 years and teaches all styles of partner dancing.
